Step into the groovy era of the 1970s with our award-winning, retro-themed TV room. Immerse yourself in a space where vintage charm harmoniously coexists with cutting-edge technology. This extraordinary room is a testament to the seamless blend of nostalgia and modern innovation, curated to captivate and inspire entertainment enthusiasts. Enter an era renowned for its distinctive style and embrace the enchantment of retro-futurism.

A UK First

Housing the UK’s first Sony 98" ZG9 Master Series 8K TV, the room presented a unique challenge of achieving optimal viewing height while preserving the retro aesthetic, a feat elegantly resolved with the integration of Future Automation's robust pull-out and swivel bracket. This innovative bracket not only ensures seamless adjustment but also allows for single-person operation, effortlessly handling the weight of the 200kg TV.

Space & Sound

Limited cabinet space beneath the massive screen led to the creation of a custom-designed cabinet, accommodating equipment racks, a 2.5m wide high-SPL soundbar, and dual 10" subwoofers. The quest for audio excellence led to the selection of a 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos system, featuring Arcam and Artcoustic loudspeakers. This not only delivers reference-level audio but also complements the room's aesthetic seamlessly.

Keeping Control

All sources, local and global, are seamlessly managed by the Control4 automation system, offering control through handheld Neeo remote, 10” in-wall touchscreen, app, or voice commands. The room's lighting, integrated with the house-wide Lutron Electronics Homeworks QS system, and Silentgliss Dim-out blinds ensure a customizable ambiance.

Old meets new

At the rear, three customised JVC sphere TVs suspended from the ceiling pay homage to the 70s classic flying ducks. Replacing CRT screens with LCD monitors and Raspberry Pis for video loops, this modern twist adds a playful touch to the room's nostalgic vibe.

This room not only delighted our client but also earned accolades, winning multiple awards, including Best AV Rack and Media Room over £50k at the ‘Smart Building Awards’. The fusion of vintage charm and state-of-the-art technology stands as a testament to our commitment to excellence in AV design and integration.
